One informational website · user-entered annual costs
Static site vs self-hosted WordPress annual cost calculator
Compare annual domain, hosting, maintenance and upkeep-time assumptions for one static site and one self-hosted WordPress site. All costs are user-entered; no universal winner is claimed.
Compare one informational website over one year. Enter local annual costs in a single currency. The calculator separates cash expenses from the value you assign to your own upkeep time; time value is an optional planning assumption, not a bill.
Static site inputs
Self-hosted WordPress inputs
Enter all values in one currency; use 0 where a cost or time input does not apply.
Method and scope
For each approach, annual cash cost is domain renewal + hosting/deployment + other maintenance. The time-adjusted scenario adds upkeep hours × your entered hourly value. Results show these separately so you can compare actual outlays with an optional value-of-time estimate. If a domain is already paid for, enter 0 for this year's renewal, or use the expected annual renewal amount for a recurring budget.
This is a one-year comparison for an informational site, not a quote or a universal recommendation. The static-site hosting field can represent the deployment service and any build-related service you choose to include; the WordPress field is for a self-hosted installation and its hosting account. WordPress.org lists PHP, a database, and HTTPS among recommended host support requirements. The calculator does not assume either approach is free or that one has lower maintenance.
Cloudflare's Pages documentation says Pages is available on all plans and describes Git-connected and direct-upload deployments; the same documentation currently identifies Workers as Cloudflare's primary platform and recommends it for new projects. This comparison is a cost worksheet, not a product selection guide. Check current service terms, regional prices, limits, and your actual workflow.
Enter your own annualized local prices. The estimate excludes setup or redesign, migration, taxes, email, paid themes/plugins, backups, security services, transaction costs, labor beyond entered upkeep, and future changes. Annualizing a prepaid plan does not show the amount due at checkout.

How it works
Enter annual domain, hosting/deployment and other maintenance costs for each approach, plus yearly upkeep hours and the value you assign to an hour. Use one currency and zero where an input does not apply. The calculator shows annual cash costs and a separate time-adjusted scenario.
Good to know
Does the calculator include upkeep time?
Yes. It multiplies your entered annual upkeep hours by the hourly value you assign, then shows that time-adjusted scenario separately from cash expenses. The hourly value is an assumption and is not a cash bill.
Is Cloudflare Pages always free or the recommended new Cloudflare platform?
This page makes no universal price claim. Cloudflare Pages documentation checked November 3, 2026 says Pages is available on all plans and also identifies Workers as Cloudflare’s primary platform, recommending Workers for new projects. Check current terms and product documentation for your intended use.
What WordPress setup is compared?
Self-hosted WordPress software installed with a hosting provider. WordPress.org recommends host support for PHP 8.3 or greater, MariaDB 10.11 or MySQL 8.0 or greater, and HTTPS. This worksheet does not compare WordPress.com or a bundled builder.
Does the result decide which approach is better?
No. It compares only the entered annual expenses and optional value-of-time assumptions for one informational site. It does not rate features, performance, reliability, security outcomes, or suitability for a particular workflow.
