Monthly transfer scenario · user-entered cache share

Page-view bandwidth calculator

Estimate monthly page-data transfer from page views, average transferred size, and an editable cache-share assumption. Check your host dashboard and plan terms.

Estimate monthly page-data transfer from your own page-view count, average transferred size, and a cache assumption. This is a planning scenario, not a provider allowance check or a traffic forecast.

Enter all three values and calculate.

Method and assumptions

Gross monthly transfer = page views × average transferred MB per view ÷ 1,000. Modeled origin transfer = gross transfer × (1 − entered cache share ÷ 100). The cache input represents the share of modeled page views whose page bytes do not come from the origin host. Use a measured share only if it matches your host's accounting; otherwise treat it as a what-if assumption.

The calculator uses decimal units: 1,000 MB = 1 GB. Average transferred size should reflect bytes actually delivered for a representative view, including resources you want to count. Chrome's Lighthouse documentation explains how its report measures transfer size for requested page resources; a single lab run may not represent your full site's pages, visitors, or repeat visits.

This simple model excludes downloads, video, APIs, bots, uploads, email, backups, traffic spikes and billing rules unless you include them in your inputs. Browser caching, CDN caching, compression, and repeat visits can affect origin transfer differently. It does not estimate peak bandwidth rate, server capacity, page speed, CDN cost, or whether a hosting plan accepts the workload. Check actual usage in your host and CDN dashboards and compare the exact plan terms.

How it works

Enter monthly page views, average transferred data per view in decimal MB, and the share of modeled page views served without origin transfer. The calculator reports gross page transfer and a modeled origin-transfer scenario; it does not measure your site or determine provider limits.

Good to know

How is monthly transfer estimated?

Gross transfer is monthly page views multiplied by average transferred megabytes per view and divided by 1,000. The modeled origin scenario applies the entered share served without origin transfer. Use decimal units and measured values where available.

Does the cache percentage predict actual CDN or hosting usage?

No. It is an editable scenario. Browser cache, CDN cache, repeat visits, dynamic requests, and provider billing definitions differ. Compare the assumption with the relevant host/CDN dashboard and exact service terms.

Does the result show whether a hosting plan is enough?

No. It estimates only the page-data volume represented by the inputs. It does not model peak rate, server capacity, other traffic types, CDN price, or plan eligibility.
